The eagle has landed! Here are the first few pics of Marc’s S/S 07 show. I see a bit of 1920′s influence with the hairbands and the sparkle – a flapper quality to it, non? It also feels slightly Chanel-ish to me, especially with the gloves and the frills… Oh No, has fingerless-glove-wearing-completely-erratic-behaving Mr. Lagerfeld been involved?

I stick it to him a lot, but Mr. Jacobs does always manage to reinvent the wheel season after season – even if this season may not be his strongest. Nonetheless, just when everyone else is doing minimalism, he sends down models in glittery headbands, metallic gold jackets, and dresses douced in frivolous layers – all at once! We’ll see how this materializes, though I must admit that the graphic set is quite nice. I just wish the clothes weren’t so “worked” and metallic-y. I mean, hasn’t even Old Navy jumped on that bandwagon?
So What? Definitely eccentric as always, but this collection is so obviously disjointed that I cannot stand behind him 100%. All I see is Great-Gatsby-1920′s-Aviation-meets-Harem-Pants-meets-Lagerfeld-at-Chanel-meets Japanese-Design. Individually, the pieces, I think, are much stronger than as shown on the runway – a definite surprise from the unchallenged king of styling himself.

it’s weird, but nicely weird.
