Isn’t fashion all about contrast – I mean, what else is there to explain our obsession with frilly, lacy babydolls with patent leather, spiked stilletos? For spring, while some designers have shown us a path of light – via yellow-hued shift dresses and tops, other’s have taken us into the night – think indigo, cobalt, royal and navy.

Yes, blue, showed up all over the NYC runway shows, from electric at Malandrino to a powdery, washed-out blue at Karen Walker. With all this blue and yellow (see previous post), it seems that desgners have gone back to primary school this season ; Crayola coloured hues pop against the creamy-white backdrop that recalls school-style chart paper. And, to give them credit, some kids know how to paint a mean weatercolour…
