Gareth Pugh is not for the faint of heart. Or maybe, anyone with a heart. The truth is that while these decidedly imaginative ensembles may capture your heart and probably warm your own creative spirit, their wearability is zip, zero, zilch, null – in other words, the same chances as Paris Hilton becoming a nun. Okay, maybe that was too strong of a statement; I mean, Darth Vader needs clothes too, right?

In his S/S 2007 show, this London-based designer took on volume like none of his peers. Life vest-like padding accentuated the hips and the arms. A checkerboard pattern jacket came with shoulder pads extending beyond the model’s ears. Limbs became objects merely to adorn with 3-dimensional, building-like shapes .
Though, in the midst of all this part-madness-part-genius, a beautiful, belted, high-collared silver trench did offer some hope of wearability. Surely not Wall Street material, but if paired with a pair of dark skinnies and a simple T, it can be likened to some synonym of wearable. Though I highly doubt this is what Pugh is attempting to achieve anyway.
