Maybe it is a function of the ‘Law of the Counter-Trend’ or a meditated return to the 1920′s, but it seems that the dropped-waist has slowly been making a comeback. Its a look that calls for no big, thick, plastic-looking, red belts (amen!) and gladly welcomes a new proportion (even though we are still talking about the “new” silhouette/proportion, which was, in my opinion, singe handedly pushed by Stefano Pilato FIVE season ago. And they say fashion moves quickly….)

At the S/S 2007 shows, the look was shown by Marc Jacobs and Phillip Lim, but you can already get this look at Urban Outfitter’s and co. Personally, I am elated that this style is usually accompanied by a fuller, looseer fit around the midriff, since sausage rolls and jelly-belly are never two accessories you want to be sporting. Then again, Marc Jacobs will present a F/W 2007 show…
