After talking endlessly about the “new sobriety” and body-concealing/cocoon-like/armored looks, it seems that designers have made it a point of sending out a message for change. Besides the vamped-up collections at Narciso, Preen, and Versace, many designers have opted for see-through, semi-transparent fabrics that reveal, in purposeful doses, the fleshy skin lurking beneath.

At Marni, it came through on a white, voluminous zipped coat, while at Fendi, it was a see-through blouse banded with horizontal PVC-like strips. The looks were still relatively modest, but suggested an underlying sexuality that, in my opinion, is consistently more alluring than in-your-face sex.
