Sophia Kokosolaki is a master craftswoman. Impeccable detail and hand-crafted design are always at the heart of all her work. For her S/S 2007 collection, she takes thing short, very short, with a slew of bubble-hemmed, mid-waisted mini dresses adorned with heavy pleating, macrame, and coral reef-like busts. There were also beautifully cut slim trousers, high-waisted shorts, and paperbag-like skirts, just in case your heart, for some very odd reason, hadn’t already melted over the drool-worthy dresses. At times, it was definitely futuristic, especially with her generous use of this season’s metallic and shine, but the organic, slightly romantic, feeling of it all brought it back to earth *cough* Balenciaga *cough*.

Colour-wise, I was particularly fond of the selective use of a brut orange, lime green, and peachy-yellow colour against all the metallic copper, slate, and platinum. Another solid collection from this Greek designer (and graduate of Central St. Martins), which will only further act to build excitement around her debut for Vionnet.
