For Chanel S/S 2007, Mr. Karl Lagerfeld sent down the usual array of black and white, tweed jackets, and gold chains. In a season where collection after collection looks like a vomit of beige, it is decidedly enjoyable to see Chanel stay true to its roots, season after season. That said, he did spruce up the collection with this season’s IT-trends.
- Metallics? In bags, hot pants, piping, and sequins on a dress.
- Sport? Hooded sweaters, motorcycle-like jackets, and horizontal stripes.
- See Through Fabric? As an entire dress, a blouse or a simple, tied-up dress shirt.
- Plexiglas platforms? With practically everything.

I could have done without the metallic grey denim, but with so many options in every Chanel collection, a few outliers don’t taint the whole. Though I caution Mr. Lagerfeld who he seats in his front row, since an Oompa-Loompa skinned ex-Spice Girl and a Scientologist-following desperate housewife just might.
