The work of Nicole Chavez…The Next Zoe?

Is it just me, or is it suddenly just as common to open a mazgazine and read the name of a star’s stylist just as often as the designer she is wearing? Yes, we live in a world where the stylist has emerged from behind the draping fabric of a Versace gown to take center stage – okay, maybe far left, but still. From Rachel Zoe’s own line of bags to Phillip Block ranting endlessly about Halle’s Oscar dress, becoming a stylist seems to be as much as about realizing one’s own dreams of the spotlight as it is about establishing a certain celebrity’s image.

Now, with the Zoe Clan on a path to self-destruction, either through over-partying (Lohan), under-eating (Nicole), or over-frumpying (Mischa), it looks like a void has opened up for ‘The Next Big Stylist’ position. My bets are on Los Angeles newbie Nicole Chavez, whose clients include the O.C.‘s Rachel Bilson and Veronica Mars’ Kristen Bell. Both of the girls are regular ‘Best Dressed’ members, and for our sake, without the accompanying emaciated sternum and oompa-loompa skin.

Here’s to hoping the Chavez clan actually look real as their star, or rather – their stylists’ star – rises.
