Are we finally bidding farewell to the overdone skinny tie? I know that the 80′s are still going to rock our world for spring/summer, but it feels like the 80′s skinny tie has been happening for way too long, especially amongst the hipster crowd. And like overdone chicken, the trend looks sort of dry to me.
Rest assured, we are not ignoring our beloved necks. No, we are still opting for neck accessories, but rather via semi-traditional bowties (see Brandon Flowers of The Killers), or longer, almost-scarf-like versions on the bowtie, as sported by the Horrors. That said, Hipster-God, Hedi Slimaine, has shown super-skinny neckties on the S/S 2007 Dior Homme runway. Result? Much to my aversion, expect many years of skinny necktie-wearing amongst hipsters, wannabe-hipsters, and H & M victims.
