Straight up – bright neon is back (http://radaronline.com/exclusives/2006/11/get-your-glowsticks-ready.php) – and I’m more afraid than a personal assistant in the presence of Naomi Campbell. Trends are great. I love trends. But some trends should just never be revisited and my dear friends, this is one of them.
All these bright, neon clothes are simply too tacky to be taken seriously. Why would you wear neon orange when you can wear a sumptuous emerald green or rich purple? Sure, pretty can get boring at times and fashion is currently clouded by a state of “fugly”, but volume done in charcoal grey tweed is completely different than volume done in fluorescent green nylon.
Every time I see this, all it reminds me of that good ol’ 90s TV show, Blossom – and while I loved the show, Blossom Russo was never really a style icon for me. That said, with Joey Lawrence in the spotlight like never before, I find this resurgence so fitting. Can we say, “Woahhh!”?
