I thought that since 2006 is coming to an end, I would do a ‘Best of ’06′. Over the coming weeks, I will release the nominees for each category and then reveal the results December 30/January 1. The results will be picked, of course, undemocratically by me using my own unspecific rulebook. Hey, I think North Korea’s a rather lovely place…
So let’s start with the heart and bones of the industry, also known as the models. While many would assume Kate should be on this list, I think this was the year Kate Moss became a celebrity, rather than an actual model. Sure she starred in a riveting drug scandal, dated the joke of the year, and posed in an ad campaign here or there. But can you be a model and not even step foot on a catwalk?
So, I put forth the real models of 2006 – Iekeliene Stange, Coco Rocha, and Irina Lazareanu (one Dutch and 2 Canadians, respectively. More democracy. Don’t you love it?). Instead of a specific “look” – think the blonde Norwegians or the vuluptous Brazilians – the 2006 model was rather all about the single unique feature. It was a year in which a definitive haircut (Maria Carla Boscono, Agyness, Cameron Russell) or a statement-making attribute (Hilary Roda’s brows, Bette frank’s luschious lips, Tanya Dziahileva’s nose) could get a model to the top.
In this case, it’s really a battle between razor-sharp cheekbones, an open-mouthed pout, and bangs good enough to limit vision. Who will it be?

Hi! Nice blog! You’ve got some great stuff on here! I’m from raddestrightnow.blogspot.com, thanks for the comment.
Coco all the way. Although, I might be a bit biased.. but I really do think she deserves it. She’s also adorably sweet in person too
