Spring looks to be gearing up to be a battle between two dichotomies of fashion: The romantic and the graphic. In one corner, we have the Max Mara S/S 2007 ad campaign, shot by Craig McDean, which plays into the graphic, linear, minimalist collections we have seen for spring – think Calvin, Narciso, Balenciaga. In the opposite corner we have the romantics, as seen by the Louis Vuitton S/S 2007 ad campaign featuring Scarlett Johansson. This group is inspired by all that is flouncy, flowery, and frou-frou – think Pilati’s YSL, Alexander McQueen, Marchesa.



I love the visuals of the stark, graphic ad campaigns but when I’m really drawn to things I want to own for myself, they’re forthrightly femine, sometimes floral & definitely soft.
