While their clothing often epitomizes the definition of Euro-Trash, complete with purposeless “masculine” patches and unexplainable nonfunctioning zippers (once again, oh so “masculine”), I must admit that Diesel always produce some of the most interesting ad campaigns around.
For their newest campaigns, shot by Terry Richardson, the Italian brand brings the spotlight on global warming – in the hyper-realistic, blatantly satirical vein they do things. From a metropolitan city quickly becoming the next Atlantis to a Saharan-like horizon, the ads, featuring model Juliana Imai, depict the polar extremes of scientific predictions. As always, they feature the mandatory greased body shots, but I contend these shots to be ubiquitous to the Diesel brand – they are like Chanel and black and white, Marc Jacobs and the amateur looking candid set amongst minimalist white, or Dolce & Gabbana and the homo-erotic rendezvous styled upon clichéd homo fantasies. Enjoy!
