Leave it to Galliano to dig up the surprises. After spring’s muted, albeit much needed, Joan of Arc-inspired collection, he did a roundabout turn for fall, delivering the opulence, shocking colour, and theatrics synonymous with the man himself. For Fall/Winter 2007/2008, he taped into the decidedly retro mood of the season, offering sharp shoulders, nipped in waists, and full skirts in true Galliano fashion.
The major movers this season were the shocking use of colour – from green apple and the most royal of blues to pale rose and fuchsia – and the luxurious use of animal skins; what could be more decadent than a shawl collared python jacket in oxblood, trimmed in deep, burgundy-black fur? That said, many of the ideas were reinterpretations of previous efforts, like the origami pleats seen at the much touted Haute Couture spring show. In fact, many commented on the resemblance of the collection to one of haute couture delineation, rather than pret-a-porter. That said, such assertions make less of a case for a lack of innovation and more of a statement of the salience of Galliano’s delicious proposition.
Maybe, just maybe, these are times to dress up again. And if you concur, look further than this right here.

OH how I loved this collection!!!
