Salty Snacks for the Fashionable: Tuesday, May 29, 2007

Peter Braunstein, the former media columnist for Women’s Wear Daily, has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for kidnapping and sex abuse. As WWD reports, the “fashion made me do it” speal didn’t hold up in court, although I would argue that the outcome would have been different if the case was decided outside of the legal system. Case in Point: Some argue Isabella Blow scoffed weed killer – or at least was more inclined to – because of doctor’s orders to avoid high heels. Now if that’s not desperation spuured by fashion, I don’t know what is.

Tom Ford has hinted he is considering doing womenswear. It’s no surprise, really. I mean, when angry sluts are banging at your doors screaming for crotch-bearing clothes, you’ll eventually take notice.

Here is Brazilian Gisele Bunchden (right) in the new ad campaign for Acquascutum. Beautiful shot, but I’m dismayed to see the lethargic beauty reinforced, this time by a London brand.
