Fendi Resort 2008

When it comes to Karl Lagerfeld, you almost get the sense that the resort explosion was bespoken for him. With each of his three main collections often a pastiche of ideas, 70 looks seem virtually numbing to his creativity. So it’s quite surprising that his 2008 resort collection for Fendi was low on new concepts – albeit high on hemlines. Focusing on black, white, and chocolate, with shots of turquoise and electric yellow, he offered up easy day dresses, Ch***el-inspired cardis and suits, and logo-heavy beachwear for Fendi’s insolent clientele. What was new – the peaked, exaggerated shoulder that came on a black dress and white shirt vest – looked hard-handed in the lot.
