Fragrance campaigns differ fundamentally from the seasonal collection campaigns because of a. their longevity and b. their intended appeal. So it’s refreshing to see YSL has opted for our own Canuck, Miss Coco Rocha, to front the campaign for the new “Elle’ fragrance. She may be regarded as a top tier model, but she remains hardly a commercial face. And in a category that is comforted by sexual innuendos, the playful, witty spirit of the campaign differentiates “Elle” as a new kind of fragrance for the house.
Result? Fashionables satisfied. Marketers even more so.
