While Nicholas Kirkwood has been on the lips of European fashionistas for some time now, the London based cobbler is about to take over the reign from Christian Louboutin as the “It” shoe maker in town. Kirkwood has an interesting look to his creations, now considered his trademark. The shoes are a cross between rock & roll and superhero, often softened with subtle contrasts and feminine use of fabrics and colour. This next big thing has been hand chosen by the Rodarte sisters to create the shoes for their SS09 Runway show, which in the past have become cult classics in the fashion industry. Nicholas Kirkwood is also to be making shoes for Pollini starting this season, with fellow London-er Jonathan Saunders at the helm. Definitely one to watch!
