Best 10 looks of Spring/Summer: Marni

  • Share

For Marni’s spring revelation, Consuelo Castiglione added new emphasis on contrast, texture and mixture. Opulently grand elements ran wild with the everyday. Both projected and unexpected, this collection cemented Marni’s aesthetic and position as the master of prints. Pucci what? Lichtenstein-esque Pop art elements, colors and juxtaposition of the mundane were skillfully displayed. Normal design elements, circles stripes and transparency intermingled, layered and provided an interesting non-matching cohesiveness. Stripes and spots were sitting in a tree, k-i-s-s-i-n-g, virtually wedded in a myriad of marvelous ways. Geometry had a floral fling, cheated on embroidery and eventually gave birth to a jacquard and organza love child. Quite a tangled web was woven. As the show progressed the more interesting the interplay was displayed. The palette made for flawless transition into any intellectual dresser’s wardrobe. Brown, mauve, yellow, lime- Roy G. Biv and his entire visual spectrum played out in Catiglione’s spring foresight.
