Fresco art adorned the tops and waist skirts in Miuccia’s exploration of her storied past for the spring collection of darling brand Miu Miu. Simple, flattering silhouettes and skirts hung on layers of silk and burlap. Overlay or color and art resembling magnified early Italian Renaissance fresco was increasing clear and then blurred as the show progressed. Simple, yet quite muddled, the collection was an artistic exploration.
Stolen? Some of the art looked as if it were purposefully aged, mishandled and draped over a skirt, spray painted and made “ready to wear”- perhaps, it seemed, without permission. I try not to induce migranes pondering messages a particular designer may or may not be sending. I can’t help but think the collection portrays a tongue in cheek slight to the many other designers or “artists” mishandling her creations, repackaging them rather obviously and sending them down the runway until the point where its been done repeatedly and the art barely remains- just blurred pixilation. I noticed how many spring shows have laser cutouts. And last season it was Prada’s lace that inspired everyone it seemed. I think Miu Miu was brilliant and simplistic with an unclear message.

The new collection is quite impressive. I totally love it. I just wish that they could be a little more affordable if you asked me. One thing I’ve noticed about the dresses is the fact that they’ve used figures which I think it brings a lot of details to the design.
Miu Miu was strange, even more than usually, but great still i think.

…actually a really great write up
its definitely impressive it reminds me of anna sui and they sell it alot at bleuclothing.com
I really loved Miu Miu this time around and I’m not usually a big fan. But I really thought this was fantastic. I like your thoughts about her possible interpretation of stealing/repackaging and then the blurring and watering down until its something else. And of course the shapes are lovely.
Really fantastic!
I love the dress that the third girl model is wearing from left.
