Suvi Koponen’s star has been on the rise steadily ever since opening Prada’s S/S 2007 show; she has gone on to be the face of multiple campaigns, only-girl editorials and covers. She actually got her start on a finnish reality show similar to our America’s Next Top Model (except apparently their show actually turns out a top model once in a while!), and it’s been great to see her mature in front of the camera.
This editorial, shot by Richard Burbridge for the May 2009 issue of Vogue Italia, is styled beautifully and highlights the clothes like many edits these days do not; however I think it’s clear who the real star here is!
Sign of a good model? We’ve seen a lot of these pieces before (gold Prada dress, Nicholas Kirkwood platforms, Givenchy heels) and Suvi still makes it all look brand new.
I bet that she is a real pleasure to shoot, as she is full of energy and has a hilarious sense of humor. While she may never go Gisele-mainstream (most “civilians” don’t know who Gemma or Lily is either), I’d bet on continued longevity and cult status in the fashion industry.
