I’m a style shapeshifter; whether it’s my makeup or general attire, I can never settle into one theme of dress. Until the recent blonde neo-mullet (a couple of months), my hair has stayed most constant of any part of my look, save one jet-black-with-bangs phase a couple years ago that yielded a polaroid I saw and said “that boy’s kind of hot” before realizing it was actually me.
WELL. I just turned 25 (on the 25th…sssshh!! I’ll never mention my age again), and I’m out on my own in the aftermath of a painful breakup/move-out with my longtime (and still) love. If there was ever time for a new look, it’s now. And I’ve REALLY had some screwy ideas on the brain. Brow bleaching!!!! I swear I’ve been dreaming about it….
But I couldn’t stop THERE. I turned to the prodigal hair genius of Sandy Poirier at SHAG to “please f*** up” the cut for me. I wanted something a little boyish, maybe Edie Sedgwick (Below Left) cum La Roux (Below Right)….

Tomorrow afternoon, the second brow process is going on and we’re going to ash/silver up the hair, too…not quite Jared Leto in Fight Club, but maybe Lara shot by Hedi a while back (Below Left). Then again, I could get overexcited and end up full-on Tilda Swinton (Below Right)……

I reeeeally want to show you the cut now, but I’m going to wait until the color is done tomorrow and I’ll put up a picture then!

As ridiculous as it sounds, I maintain that a massive chop (akin to the edie shot, but back to dishwater blonde after years of bleaching) was absolutely instrumental in moving on after the chaotic crumbling of my long term relationship last year (though I still love the fucker). It also gives people a new focal point over than “Oh, I heard your life fell apart” when you run into them.
Can’t wait to see it.
I think the cut is a good idea as well! I’m sure it will look amazing… very excited to see the pic, and here’s hoping for more Lara than Tilda.
