Celebrity style: The Grammy’s 2010 (part 1)

So these ladies have been making waves not only in music but in fashion, so we’re starting our 2010 Grammy Awards red carpet round up with them…

Lady Gaga of course had an outfit to shock and awe her fans with. A custom-made Giorgio Armani Prive gown with every inch of her glittering and sparkling like she were at the centre of the universe. She loses points for the yellow tipped hair and tranny-esque make up. The outfit could have done with something more ethereal or icy.

Thankfully, Rihanna chose not to get into a crazy get up on the Grammy’s red carpet and selected an Elie Saab dress that is beautifully elegant but just as eye catching. The high neck dress with its open back and abundance of chiffon appliqué seemed to be made for her and proves you don’t need tricks and gimmicks to look good on the red carpet.

Can someone tell Ke$ha to tone down her eye make up? We know it’s her ‘thing’ but it looks like she was punched in the eye after being dipped in a vat of gold liquid. The girl looks all one colour from hair to skin to dress. Fringed dresses are for the flapper look, which clearly Ke$ha isn’t going for.

Jennifer Lopez looks surprisingly good in this Versace chain mail dress, yes we’re shocked because since her ‘comeback’ she has looked like she’s trying too hard to recapture her youth. But this two-tone dress with its chiffon overlay shows off her curves without giving her that look-at-me-I’ve-still got-it-even-though-I’m-40 look.

Beyonce wore a floor-length figuring-hugging dress by Stephane Rolland, while it’s not her best red carpet look, we love how it hugs her curves and shows off her fabulous body. The detail on the beige dress gives it a bit of something extra. I’m not quite sure why I like this look, perhaps it has something to do with the fact that it’s not some body-suit get up.

Mean while Ciara tries her best at a cool edgy look ala Rihanna with a black body suit under a black lace dress. We know body-suits and black lace dresses are the ‘it’ look at the moment, but there is just too much going on and the lace pattern looks like an old doily pattern that was dug out of a cupboard from the 1870s. Its not the worst look we’ve seen, but certainly not the best…

Stay tuned, we’re bringing you some more 2010 Grammy Awards red carpet looks tomorrow!
