Animals seem to hold a special place in Stella McCartney‘s heart. Last season she featured cartoon animals in her ad campaign, now for Spring/Summer 2010 she has called in an family pet from her childhood – a Dalmatian called Lucky. Lucky was photographed by Linda McCartney in 1976 and features as the backdrop to the ads which star Natalia Vodianova. “I love the way it’s very graphic and soft at the same time, due to its double exposure,” said McCartney of her mother’s photo, which is entitled “Lucky, Sussex, 1976.” Linda’s photo was incorporated in with the photography of by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott who was chosen because ““I have known Marcus since I was a teenager and Mert from when they first met,” McCartney said. “But we never had the chance to work together. I wanted to capture their high-glamour approach over my mum’s low-maintenance way of working.”
I think the campaign is refreshing and shows heart and warmth, something that can be missing from high end luxury ad campaigns.

I love that there’s a personal edge to the set – the family pet in the background, high fashion in the foreground. The soft monochrome background really sets off the outfits, particularly that gorgeous blue ensemble in the last picture.
Love the photographs. Eye catching!
