Lee Alexander McQueen, his passing has left a gaping hole in the fashion world and broken many fashionista’s hearts. But there is good news amongst the saddness, his financial backers The Gucci Group (who own 51% of Alexander McQueen) has announced that they will keep running the fashion house. “We believe in the future of the brand,” said Robert Polet, president and chief executive officer of Gucci Group. “Lee was very proud of the people working in his company, and so am I.” McQueen was working on his Fall/Winter 2010 collection when he had committed suicide and will be shown as planned during Paris Fashion Week next month.

Meanwhile as we near London Fashion Week, the British Fashion Council have announced that they will allow Londoners to pay tribute to the late Lee McQueen by mounting a wall inside the main London Fashion Week tent at Somerset House. Visitors will be able to pin notes they have written to the designer and his family. The notes will be compiled into a book and presented to McQueen’s family. “We want to give the industry a place where they can pay their respects [to McQueen],”said a spokesperson for the BFC.
