Cover watch: Vogue snaps up Gisele Bunchen for her first post-baby cover

What better way to make a comeback to modeling than with a American Vogue cover? After giving birth to her baby boy Benjamin Brady four months ago, Gisele Bundchen now graces the cover of Vogue‘s April 2010 Shape issue, making it a fantastic way to show the world she’s fit and fabulous again. Photographed by Patrick Dematchelier, the accompanying editorial features Gisele in her Costa Rica home – fit and healthy. Inside she talks about how she didn’t leave her apartment for six weeks before the interview with Vogue and has kept herself out of the public eye. “I felt like my pregnancy was a sacred moment for me,” she told Vogue. “I stayed in Boston and I didn’t work apart from the contracts I have, and then I only let them use my face.”

When she did eventually leave to meet with a brand she has an advertising contract with she was jolted back into the modeling world. ” Usually, as I walk through the door into that atmosphere, I already feel different. There’s a button that goes On and I’m On. And when I go On, there is almost no me; there is just a character who is doing all this. This time it wasn’t like that. I’ve been really inside with my husband and my baby, and everything is changed. But the client still deserves respect and professionalism, and I got a little bit concerned because I wasn’t feeling it. Makeup was done, hair was done, and I looked in the mirror and I still wasn’t seeing the person who’s a model.”
